Solution of Laminar Boundary Layer and Turbulent Free Jet With Neural Networks
A novel neuro-based method is introduced to solve the laminar boundary layer and the turbulent free jet equations. The proposed method is based on cellular neural networks, CNNs, which are recently applied widely to solve partial differential equations. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated through some examples.

متن کاملOptimization of Perturbation Parameters for Simulated Free Shear Layer Flow
This paper provides details on the optimization of phase and amplitude of perturbations for simulated free shear layer flows. The goal of the optimization is to maximize or minimize the rate of growth of the shear layer, based upon firstprinciples physics-based simulations that represent solutions to the fully nonlinear Navier-Stokes equations. These simulations have been obtained using a uniqu...
متن کاملLow-dimensional models of a temporally evolving free shear layer
We develop low-dimensional models for the evolution of a free shear layer in a periodic domain. The goal is to obtain models simple enough to be analyzed using standard tools from dynamical systems theory, yet including enough of the physics to model nonlinear saturation and energy transfer between modes (e.g., pairing). Recently, experiments have suggested that high-frequency forcing of shear ...
متن کاملPassive scalar mixing in a planar shear layer with laminar and turbulent inlet conditions
The effect of inlet conditions on the mixing of a passive scalar was investigated in a planar shear layer with inlet boundary layers that were laminar, tripped and naturally turbulent–transitional. Planar laser-induced fluorescence measurements of acetone were used to directly evaluate the shear layer structure, and were processed to determine probability density functions ~PDFs! of the mixture...
